The 2017 Dan Rawlins Memorial Scholarships:

Case Manager of the Year Award & Outreach Worker of the Year Award

The deadline to apply for the Dan Rawlins Memorial Scholarships is June 30, 2017. 

These scholarships have been established to honor the work and dedication of Dan Rawlins to the practice of street outreach and HEI case management. The recipient of these annual awards will receive a full scholarship to attend the HIV Outreach and HEI Case Management Conference, including a waived conference fee, travel, transportation, accommodations and per diem expenses. They will also be awarded a plaque in recognition of being chosen to receive this prestigious scholarship. 

Submissions will be reviewed and scored by a blind panel and notified by July 14, 2017.

Who is eligible?

-Outstanding Street Outreach Workers who are primarily engaged in providing direct outreach in a non- clinical setting who exemplify Dan Rawlins’ devotion to people with substance abuse problems who are at risk for HIV/AIDS.

-Outstanding Case Managers who are engaged in directly providing quality services to people living with HIV/AIDS who exemplify Dan Rawlins’ devotion to delivering compassionate services to people who are experiencing substance abuse issues and living with HIV/AIDS. Nominees must also have at least one year of HEI Case Management experience.

Supervisors, peers or community partners can make nominations for these awards.

2017 Conference Volunteer Opportunities and Scholarships:

The deadline to apply for conference scholarships for the 2017 HIV Street Outreach and HEI Case Management Conference is July 7, 2017. Submissions received after this date will not be accepted. 

Scholarships are available for individuals willing to participate as roundtable leaders and/or workshop monitors during the conference. Conference registration fees are waived and hotel costs paid for depending on your level of involvement. The deadline to submit scholarship applications is July 7, 2017. Individuals awarded scholarships will be notified by July 14, 2017. 

Who is eligible?

Anyone willing to participate as a workshop monitor, roundtable leader, or conference volunteer. 

What is a workshop monitor? 

Workshop monitors will assist the HIV Connection staff in overseeing the continuing education process (CEUs) and monitoring assigned workshop sessions, as well as traffic flow in and out of sessions. Workshop monitors may be asked to assist with other tasks such as the networking event (Tues. evening) and should plan to be available to help during the majority of workshop sessions.

What is a roundtable facilitator?

Prospective roundtable facilitators are asked to submit a roundtable topic for approval on the application. Roundtables are an important part of the conference learning process and allow participants to engage in peer-to-peer dialogue on topics such as best practices, case management and outreach-related topics and regional trends. Past roundtables have been facilitated by HEI and HIV Outreach staff and speakers who have discussed social media, outreach to women, HIV testing and more. Roundtable sessions are scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, August 15.
